Bob Miller - trumpet

“Mambo” Bob Miller is well known locally for playing with salsa group Bio Ritmo since 1995, but he is also schooled as a serious jazz musician. From 1995-1997 he completed his Master's work in jazz performance at Virginia Commonwealth University under the direction of Doug Richards and study jazz trumpet with John D’earth. He has appeared on over 100 recordings ranging from Latin to jazz to folk to rock, including albums with Bio Ritmo, Foxygen, Karl Blau, Fight the Big Bull, and The Squirrel Nut Zippers. Current projects in the Richmond, VA area include old-school salsa outfit Bio Ritmo, avant-jazz group Scott Clark 4tet, Mikrowaves, Piranha Rama, Hector Barez and El Laberinto del Coco, R4ND4ZZO BIG B4ND, Mekong Xpress and the Get Fresh Horns, Adam Hopkins School Work, Doug Richards Jazz Ensemble, NoBS Brass, 3 Sheets to the Wind, Fear of Music, The Big Payback and The Blue Tips, among others.
